Software Development

Desks running software previous to release 1.07L (June 1997) are advised to update to a more recent version. Otherwise updates will only be required if any of the enhancements listed below are particularly relevant. All software versions include an updated fixture personality library which may be updated sinultaneously if desired. See Q Commander F.A.Q.'s.

To discover the version currently installed in your Q Commander,
At the Main Menu, press ‘Store’ and the software version will be displayed.

2.00B (CURRENT VERSION)
Naming error corrected on Invert Pan/Tilt functions.
2.00A Full preset focus version for general release.
1.09A Preset focus code added in background for field trials.
1.08G No significant change. Additional fixtures added for production release.
1.08F ALL-NOTES-OFF midi command added. (Hex B07B00)
Clears all QCommander key selections via midi input.
1.08E No significant change.
1.08D Fixed timing error in show recording clock display.

1.08B Text change to Martin fixture.
1.08A Pre-show blackout option enabled. Allows control over the existing selections when a show is selected.

1.07Y Manually activated chases added. Manual chase stepping is selected when programming the global fade and hold times for the chase - Audiosync now changes from Auto (default) to Audio to Bump. The ‘Go’ softkey in the Run Menu advances all chases labelled ‘Bump’ by one step.
1.07X Midi offset added as a user option in the System-Options menu. User can determine the offset depending on the type of keyboard being used. Freeze feature added on the Run Menu. This simply ‘freezes’ all channels and displays ‘FROZEN’ on the screen while activated.
1.07W Addition of option to disable the Capture button in the System-Options Menu.
1.07V No significant change.
1.07U Midi Send note also increased by 36 to match midi receive note.
1.07T No significant change.
1.07S Midi information now takes current key mode into account. This means that note on/off information can now latch and swap keys as well as flash them. The midi note used to trigger button 1 increased by 36 to match smaller midi keyboards.
1.07R Trackball response improved under 16 bit mirror movement.
1.07Q No significant change.
1.07P More fixture channel types added to cope with expanding features of intelligent units.
1.07O Channel type menu is expanded to allow user selection of the DBO flag - i.e. whether the channel responds to the Blackout switch. Dimmer channels default to DBO.
1.07N No significant change.
1.07M No significant change.
1.07L Chase programming enhanced by the addition of a global hold time, which is set in a similar way to the global fade time.
NOTE: Previous versions of software must update via this version. This means, if you have version 1.06? and you wish to update to the lastest version - you must first update to 1.07L
1.07K ‘MAIN MENU’ text added to start-up display.
1.07J No significant change.
1.07I Lamp strike features added, lamp strike can either be automatic or can produce a screen on power up to prompt for a manual strike.
1.07H Error messages added for abnormal Midi information.
1.07G Option added to automatically repeat shows.
1.07F On uploading a new system, the QCommander will check the system card type and determine whether fixtures are included.
1.07E Scene fade-out option added to either:
a) Fade to zero and then execute other keys
b) Immediately execute other keys with no fade out.
This option is selectable in the System-Options menu.
1.07D Palette feature added, allowing fixture attributes to be saved to touch keys and then recalled during scene programming.
1.07C Addition of total blackout option to cover all channels (Rather than only those labelled in the channel type screen).
1.07B When editing a key the display shows ‘channel only’ if channel levels are included but no scenes or chases.
1.07A Key programming menu has been modified to give Deselect, Xref or Select options for attaching a scene to a key. Xref allows changes made to the scene after the initial programming to filter back down to the key, whereas Select builds a ‘local’ scene.
1.06Z Static scenes can have independent fade-in and fade-out times.
1.06Y Find function can also find ‘looks’. QCommander will now send Midi note on/off on key activation/deactivation.
1.06X Find function enabled to look for a specified scene or chase on all output keys.
1.06W Shows can now be edited using the data method. This allows rapid programming of lengthy shows.
1.06V Editing scenes using the overlay function is enhanced - Fixtures in subsequent scenes now maintain the overlay tag whilst editing.
1.06U Zone patterns extended.
1.06T Program checking tools added to look for programming errors, for example if a zone is used as a step of a chase. Overlay functionality added. This allows construction of scenes which only replay specified attributes in Run Mode.
1.06S Now possible to patch a single channel to an analogue input directly. Patch method feature added to allow either all channels to be patched to the fader or only HTP channels to give better functionality when using moving lights.
1.06R Assigning fixtures now made easier by retaining previous position on list for next assignment.
1.06Q Fixture list extended, more channel types included to allow for fixtures with 20+ channels.
1.06P No significant change.
1.06O Patch features extended to enable zone start from a fader.
1.06N Shows now stop leaving last used keys active when manually stopped.
1.06M Midi receive enabled to give further control over output keys.
1.06L Levels screen (In run mode) can now be used correctly with ‘look’ keys.
1.06K Card features updated to include user friendly service messages and read/write test function.
1.06J Numeric keypad now used to jump to a given scene.
1.06I Zones made to step with audio beat.
1.06H No significant change.
1.06G Fixture assignment automatically assigns appropriate channel types to LTP.
1.06F Comms Mode added to Options list.
1.06E Show recording further advanced to ensure key mode changes made since recording are allowed for
1.06D Show recording enhanced to allow swap keymode.
